Little Birdie Sip & See

Back in October, one of my very best friends had an adorable baby boy. Since this was her 2nd child she opted to have a Sip & See after he was born, rather than a full blown baby shower. So a couple of weeks ago we had a simple, small gathering to see the baby and share some gifts with her. I chose a simple theme that was not too over the top and yet was appropriate to the occasion. 'Welcome to the Nest' with little birdie touches was a sweet simple theme. Here are some photos from the morning soiree.

Me with my BFF and her sweet baby!

He slept through most of the shower and when he was awake he was a perfect angel!

Cute birdie cupcakes. Baby boy has an older sister, so that is why the other birdie is pink! The cupcakes were lemon and vanilla, with coconut frosting.
Got them at Cupcakes Couture in Manhattan Beach

We had a lovely spread of quiches, bagels, berries, and blueberry or blood orange mimosas!

Simple little favors were miniature soaps and the box read "The nest egg"

Nina's Bridal Shower

Last weekend was a weekend of hosting parties! On Saturday the 26th, I hosted at my house a kitchen themed bridal shower for my future sister in-law. The theme was a fun idea that one of the other hostesses cam up with. We basically included a recipe card in with the invite. Guests were asked to include a recipe along with the gift that could be used in that recipe. It made for a cute twist on the gift giving and she walked away with a box of all new recipes to try with her new cookware! I played off the kitchen theme by putting together centerpieces that were kitchen canisters that said "flour", "sugar", "coffee", and "tea". I then gave out little thank you gifts that were measuring spoons that had the "recipe for a happy marriage" written on them. Along with the kitchen theme, I played off the pink and brown colors in the invitations for my decor and food. It was a very successful shower. We had about 18 guests and they all had a great time and enjoyed the Italian sparkling wine! Here are the pics and the details!
