Salad

Not sure how this happened, but I will take full credit since I came up with the idea, but Sarah now eats SALAD!! She has always liked carrots, tomatoes, and red peppers and when we eat at CPK she likes the white cheese and the salami in the chopped salad. So it dawned on me that why not make her a salad!?! I asked her if she wanted to try it with a little lettuce and she said yes. So on Saturday night when I offered her pizza for dinner, she turned it down and asked for THE SALAD. She then ate it the next night, and asked for it in her lunch on Monday. It was not a fluke, because...you guessed it, she asked for it again tonight. I was even able to sneak in a little broccoli! I am so thrilled that she loves it and I wish I could follow her lead and eat more salads!

THE SALAD includes: green leaf lettuce, carrots, strawberry tomatoes, red peppers, broccoli, chopped pepperonis, and shredded mozzarella cheese. No dressing.

Something I had to have.....

These adorable little Matryoshka doll measuring cups have been calling my name for weeks now. I first spotted them at Anthropologie month or so ago and when I was in there the other day I studied them again, but thought, you know I really don't NEED this. Then I was reading a blog I follow, Pioneer Woman, and she did a blog entry about how she couldn't pass them up and how she could see this being something passed down from generation to generation....and that sold me. I probably should have bought 2 sets because I am not sure which girl will want them more, but I figured they could share and it will be something that they can look at and always have good memories about helping me in the kitchen. Sarah already loves to do this. Although the dolls are almost too pretty to use, they are so unique and fun, I can't imagine they will just sit on the shelf!

Also, I recently read another blog where the mom actually threw a Matryoshka doll themed birthday party for her daughter. It was so cute that I had been pondering that idea for awhile and I see in my future throwing a similar party myself. I hope Matryoshka doll stuff becomes easier to find and I am just in love with the use of these for the kitchen.

St. Patrick's Day

It is pretty much an annual tradition that we spend St. Patrick's Day in San Antonio. We do this because it is my dad's birthday and we like to be there with him. Sarah loves going to see "Opa". This year she had an especially good time because there is now a coo coo clock in the house. I don't think she missed it once while she was in the house. It was the highlight of her trip! She did, however, enjoy going on a trip and helping Opa outside in the lawn. Lauren did not enjoy the drive down, so there for, neither did I. She did however like a new space to explore and all the attention she got from everyone. My favorite was seeing my dad and going to eat Mexican food at Mi Teirra. It is his favorite place, and one of mine, as well. It is a must if visiting San Antonio! It was a nice quick trip, but glad to be back home and have the girls back in their own beds.

Ireland Dreaming....

I don't know if it is because it is March, or because we are going to the Irish Festival this weekend, or because Sarah talks about it non-stop, but I have been dreaming of Ireland a lot lately. We are hoping to go there with the McDonald clan next June. We have started to look into the trip and thinking about ideas of what to see. Sarah knows she is an Irish girl, so she can't wait! She is also very much in love with Paris right now, so we may have to take a detour and go down there, too. Darn! I am not sure how we will fare having to do that, but I feel like we can manage it somehow!!
So, Ireland, you better get ready because the McDonald's and all our family and friends are heading your way!

Alpha Chi Omega Fashion Show

Well...it was that time of year again....Sarah and Audrey's turn to shine at the Fashion Show. 12-13 years from now when they both become Alpha Chi's at TCU they will be able to say that they have been doing this for 15 years now and they have it down! This is year number 3 for both of them. The little legacies look forward to doing this every year, even though they are in the spotlight for all of maybe a minute! They love getting their hair done and getting to dress-up in something new and pretty. I think they like being around all the older girls and having them make over them, too. The fashion show is always a great success. Although I was in the back after the show and did not hear how much they raised this year, I am sure it was great. It benefits the Tarrant County Women's Center and the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation that supports those abused by domestic violence. It is a great cause and a great event.

Sarah - Soccer Star

Ok..maybe "star" is pushing it. She just played her first game yesterday! I was sad to have missed it, but it was so cold out, that we thought it better one of us stay home to keep Lauren out of the cold. SO since I accompany her to dance, skating, etc...it was time I shared her a little bit with her daddy! He said she did really good. No goals, but she made some good plays that led to goals. Her team (The Hurricanes) did win! More importantly...she had a blast and she looked so darn cute in her little uniform. I always pictured her wearing tutus, but she was adorable in this, too. I am glad she likes it and hope she continues to. It is so fun to get to watch her doing things she loves. We are very blessed that she likes to do so many things.
